Well, it’s the first day of fall, and you guys know what that means. No, I’m not talking about cooler weather, or trees shedding their leaves. I’m talking about the return of network television’s fall lineup of new shows already trying to hit that Nielsen sweet spot in an attempt to get picked up for another year. Here are three new series that are worth a look.

The End Part 2: So Long, Kiddo
Well this is it. The last post I’ll write about Lost, at least for the foreseeable future. It’s been a tough week. I don’t know how many times I’ve re-watched the finale, and I can still say that I get teary-eyed at some point with every viewing. Damon and Carlton have urged viewers to move on from the show, but I don’t know anyone who truly loves the show who is ready to do that. I know I’m not. Anyway, I have just a few more talking points to discuss about the finale, so let’s get into them.

Linking Questions and Lingering Answers
The final season of Lost answered many questions for its viewers. We finally found out what those voices in the woods were all about, the origin of Jacob and the man in black, even the true purpose of the Island, and the consequences that come from the destruction of that purpose. The sections of the finale that take place within the cave of light hearken back to season two, when we discovered what happens when the Swan hatch’s button isn’t pressed every 108 minutes. Even the imagery in the episode is very reminiscent of the Swan, with a great recreation of the season one finale scene of Jack and Locke staring down into the blown open hatch.

The End Part 1: The Beginning
A single post about Lost’s finale wouldn’t do this amazing piece of work justice, and quite frankly would be far too long for any one person to want to read online in a single sitting. Because of that, I’ll be splitting my thoughts up into themed posts over the next week. This post is going to focus a briefly on the character moments last night’s episode (I’ll get into those more later), touch on religion versus science, as well as discuss my thoughts on the shooting of the episode, and pretty much the entire series as a whole. Needless to say these posts will contain lots of SPOILERS, so if you haven’t watched the finale yet you should definitely STOP HERE.

Happy We’ll Be, Beyond The Sea
When I first saw last week’s episode of Lost I was immediately put off, and it wasn’t because of the cheesiness of the answers we were given. For some reason it just didn’t seem right, like it should have been left as some extra on a DVD box set, not aired as a full-fledged episode. It may have been the fact that I didn’t feel the questions addressed in the episode needed answers, or that it was such an abrupt change from “The Candidate”, and I was ready for more story, not more mythology. Regardless, after re-watching the episode a number of times, it’s grown on me. While the story is rather cliched and the origin of Jacob and the Man In Black, not to mention the true purpose of the Island, seem recycled, the episode does bring up some interesting questions. These questions I’m sure will never be answered, but it’s always good to leave some things to the audience’s speculation. Now, I would argue that the answers we got this past week were to questions that fall in the category of not needing answers, but that’s neither here nor there. Anyway, instead of boring you with a recap of what you’ve already seen, I’m going to discuss some of the interesting questions that were brought up in this episode, instead of focusing on the answers we received. Oh, all right, I’ll talk about one answer, but I bet it’s not the one you’re thinking of! Regardless, this will make for a short post, so don’t blink or it’ll pass you by!

Puffy Is One Nasty Mo-Fo
Wow… just wow. I’m not even sure how to start off this post after the events of last night’s episode. Needless to say, you shouldn’t really be reading this post if you haven’t seen the latest episode, “The Candidate”. I urge you to not read on if you haven’t seen it, no matter how little you care about spoilers. Add this post to your Instapaper queue or something and read it later.

6 Shows You Should Be Watching
Okay, so in all honesty if you’re reading this you’re probably here from my Twitter account, and thus are probably already watching at least some of these shows, if not all of them. Still, it’s my soapbox and I’ll preach to the choir if I want to.
