A Return To My Roots
For the longest time I’ve been really focused on movies and television as forms of entertainment. While this in itself is not a bad thing, especially in this day and age, I felt somewhat bad that my reading habits had fell by the wayside. When I was younger, I was that kid that everyone made fun of on the bus because all he did was sit there and read. Don’t feel bad for me, I didn’t really care. I was too busy absorbed in the worlds those books brought to life. Whether it be a noir mystery, a sci fi epic, or a fantasy tale set in a far off medieval kingdom, I loved all of my novels. However I especially loved my fantasy tales: Lord of The Rings, The Sword of Shannara, numerous Dragonlance novels. The fantasy worlds were always my favorite, occupied by dwarves and elves and all sorts of fantastical creatures and epic battles. My parents would always complain about me reading them. Saying that I was wasting time that I should have been spending on other pursuits. I didn’t care. I was too busy reading. However, as I moved through high school and entered college, I steadily shifted my focus to other forms of entertainment. I read more comic books and spent more time on the computer, leaving my novels collecting dust on the shelf.
